  • Botanical Name: Coffea arabica
  • Common Names: Arabian Coffee, Mountain Coffee
  • Description: The easy-to-care-for Arabian Coffee Plant has become popular indoor house plant that can produce white flowers and colorful cherries if grown large enough. The seeds inside the cherries are actually coffee beans, and make up around 60% of the world's coffee production. Originally found and documented in Yemen around the 12th century, Coffea arabica has a truly global distribution today. As a house plant, it requires minimum maintenance and can be put outside when the weather warms up.

Taking care of your Arabica Coffee plant is a real treat. Here are some tips:

1. Light: Place your Arabica Coffee plant in a spot with bright, indirect light. It enjoys a few hours of morning sunlight, but be careful not to expose it to harsh, direct sunlight.

2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Make sure the top inch of soil is dry before watering again. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out or sitting in standing water.

3. Humidity: Arabica Coffee plants love humidity. To increase humidity, you can mist the leaves regularly or place a tray filled with water near the plant. Just make sure the plant's roots aren't sitting in the water.

4. Temperature: Keep your Arabica Coffee plant in a warm environment. It thrives in temperatures between 60-70°F (15-21°C). Avoid exposing it to cold drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations.

5. Soil: Use a well-draining soil mix that retains some moisture. A blend of peat moss, perlite, and regular potting soil works well.

6. Fertilizer: Feed your Arabica Coffee plant with a balanced liquid fertilizer specifically formulated for houseplants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer packaging for the proper dosage and frequency.

Remember, growing coffee plants indoors can be a bit challenging, but with the right care, you might just enjoy a cup of homegrown coffee someday! ☕️😄
